SPEECH OF THE DEAN OF FMIPA UDAYANA UNIVERSITY
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) of Udayana University (Unud) was founded on the premise that there is a need for a forum for the development of basic sciences at Udayana University, especially for users in central and eastern Indonesia. The establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences began with the Decree (SK) of the Chancellor of Udayana University No. 613/PT.17/I.a.012/1984 dated July 1, 1984 concerning the Establishment of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Study Program (PS MIPA) at Udayana University, with 2 Sub-Programs of Study, namely the Chemistry Study Sub-Program and the Physics Study Sub-Programme. A year later, on May 1, 1985, followed by the establishment of the Biology Study Sub-Programme with the Decree of the Chancellor of UNUD No. 325/PT.17/I.01.12/1985. The issuance of the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education respectively numbered No. 63/DIKTI/Kep/1988; No. 66/DIKTI/Kep/1988 and No. 67/DIKTI/Kep/1988, decided that the positions of the Chemistry Study Sub-Program, the Physics Study Sub-Program and the Biology Study Sub-Program are managed under the Faculty of Animal Science, Udayana University, with a clause that the three study sub-programs are Undergraduate Programs ( S1) and is an inter-faculty study program which in its implementation is carried out in collaboration with FMIPA Airlangga University. The naming of the Sub-Study Program changed to the Chemistry, Physics and Biology Study Program based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, successively No. 81/DIKTI/Kep/1989; 91/DIKTI/Kep/1989 and 92/DIKTI/Kep/1989, are Inter-Faculty Strata 1 (S1) programs under the Chancellor.
With the journey and struggle of the founders supported by the Chancellor of Udayana University, on October 22, 1993, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Udayana University was officially formed through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 0382/0/1993 with 3 study programs namely Chemistry, Physics and Biology Study Program. The three study programs were changed to the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Biology with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number 07/DIKTI/Kep/1994 dated January 15, 1994. Based on the Letter of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education No. 2843/D/T/2001 dated August 31, 200, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unud was allowed to re-establish the Mathematics Study Program with a Bachelor's Degree (S1) level. Thus, until 2001, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unud consisted of 4 Study Programs (Prodi).
In line with the development of science and technology, it is considered to establish a study program that can develop basic knowledge into applied science, so that on the proposal from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and with the support of the Chancellor of the Udayana University, on September 6, 2004 the Chancellor proposed the establishment of a Pharmacy Study Program with a Strata 1 level ( S1) with a letter of recommendation from the Chancellor of Udayana University Number: 3459/J14/PR.01.04/2004 to the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia. The formation of the Pharmacy Study Program followed up the Letter of the Director General of Higher Education Number 0682/D2.2/2005 dated April 21, 2005, regarding the considerations for the opening of the Pharmacy Study Program (S1) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University. Based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number 1193/D/T/2006 dated April 12, 2006, regarding the establishment of a new study program, the Computer Science/Informatics Engineering Study Program was established. Thus, until now the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unud has 6 Undergraduate Study Programs (S1, with the development of basic and applied sciences.
In line with the development of the community's need for formal education and to meet the demands of the Balinese people in particular and the eastern Indonesia region in general, it is proposed and approved the establishment of a Study Program with an advanced level, namely the Master Study Program (S2) in Applied Chemistry with the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 2857/D/T/2008, dated August 28, 2008, Pharmacist Professional Study Program with Decree No. 47/D/T/2010, dated January 18, 2010, Master Study Program (S2) in Biological Sciences with the Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 26/D/O/2010, dated March 25, 2010, and the Biology Doctoral Study Program (S3) with an establishment decree from the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education No. 1060/KPT/I/2018. Thus, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University as the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS) manages 10 Study Programs (Prodi), each of which is led by the Study Program Coordinator (Koprodi), namely:
- Chemistry Study Program
- Physics Study Program
- Biology Study Program
- Mathematics Study Program
- Pharmacy Study Program
- Informatics Study Program
- Pharmacist Profession Study Program
- Master of Chemistry Study Program
- Master of Biology Study Program
- Biology Doctoral Study Program
