Return Visit of the Faculty of Science, The University of Melbourne to FMIPA Unud
Denpasar, Friday, August 29, 2025 - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, received a return visit from the Faculty of Science, The University of Melbourne, Australia, on August 29, 2025. This visit was a follow-up to an existing collaboration between the two institutions.
The delegation from The University of Melbourne consisted of Professor Willa Huston (Associate Dean of Global Engagement, Faculty of Science), Holly Wright (Student Recruitment Officer, Faculty of Science), and Riyantisa Fikautsara (Country Coordinator, Indonesia Engagement, The University of Melbourne). They were welcomed by the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Prof. Dra. Luh Putu Eswaryanti Kusuma Yuni, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Research and Community Service Unit.
This brief but productive meeting reiterated plans for strategic collaboration. Among the highlights was the visit by Prof. The meeting will be attended by Dr. Michael-Shawn Fletcher from the School of Geography, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences, scheduled for October 2025. Furthermore, the discussion also touched on the plan to send students from the School of BioSciences, Melbourne University, to study for a limited period at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, as discussed between the Dean of the Faculty and Professor Margie Mayfield, Head of the School of BioSciences, at a meeting at Melbourne University on November 20, 2024.
Furthermore, Prof. Willa Huston expressed interest in exploring other forms of collaboration, such as the participation of University of Melbourne students in international programs offered by the Faculty, Udayana University, and the possibility of researcher exchanges to strengthen research collaboration between the two institutions.
This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening international relations and agreed on various forms of collaboration that will be realized by 2025.
