The 2025 International Symposium on Modern Optics (ISMOA) Welcomes Scientists from 12 Countries to Bali
Sanur, Bali, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 – In an effort to strengthen Indonesia's position as a center for the development of modern optical science, the Indonesian Optical Association (HOI) once again held the 15th International Symposium on Modern Optics and Its Applications (ISMOA) 2025. This major event took place from July 28 to 31, 2025, at the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel, Bali, with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Physics Study Program, Udayana University, as the local host.
With the theme "Bridging Light and Quantum Frontier," ISMOA 2025 served as a central platform for scientists, researchers, and academics to exchange knowledge and build international collaborative networks. Prior to the official start of the symposium, participants also participated in the Summer Course on Modern Optics and Its Applications, which began on July 25, providing students and young researchers with an in-depth understanding of modern optics.
This event focused on cutting-edge topics such as integrated photonics, metasurfaces, quantum optics, nanophotonics, biophotonics, and the application of machine learning in photonic systems. The event attracted 57 participants from 12 countries, including Malaysia, Pakistan, China, Australia, Japan, and Europe, including the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Germany. Domestically, participants came from a number of leading universities, national research institutions, and related industries.
ISMOA 2025 not only advances optical science but also makes a significant contribution to addressing future technological challenges through innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
