UPSKILL 2023 activity evaluation meeting
On Tuesday 28 February 2023 in the FMIPA Dean's meeting room, a short course and one semester UPSKILL FMIPA UNUD evaluation meeting was held. the meeting which was attended by the Dean of FMIPA, WD1 FMIPA, Chair of UPSKILL FMIPA UNUD, and external parties discussed the evaluation of the short course and one semester UPSKILL FMIPA UNUD activities, and follow up on the results of the evaluation.
UPSKILL is an international short course activity carried out by FMIPA Udayana University and chaired by Dr. Ir. A. A. Raka Dalem, M.Sc (Hons). UPSKILL is a one-semester international program that invites international students to participate in specific and sustainable projects that have important aspects in biology, environmental management, ecotourism and conservation in Indonesia. During project implementation, students will be supervised by supervisors who are appropriate in field topics. Project progress will be discussed with supervisors every week, then after the project is completed, a report of at least 20 pages must be submitted after being presented at the seminar.
The goals of the UPSKILL program are for students to be able to:
- Understand issues related to biology, environmental management, ecotourism, and conservation
- Write research proposals
- Collect data and perform data analysis
- Writing research results and discussions
- Prepare a complete report with conclusions and recommendations
In this UPKSILL activity students will carry out 7 activities namely
- Attend college
- Participate in small group discussions
- Group project
- Learn to be independent
- Project presentation
- Site visited for data collection.
- Laboratory activities
with 10 subjects
- Biodiversity conservation and ecotourism
- Ichthyology
- Marine pollution
- Tropical horticulture
- Project
- Ethnobiology
- Aqua culture (marriage culture)
- Microbiology and fish disease
- Indonesian
- Tropical marine ecology
Based on the evaluation, the UPSKILL FMIPA UNUD short course and one semester activities are expected to ensure priority of short course activities by supporting lecturers, so that the material can be received by short course participants according to schedule. To increase student demand, it is planned to add several field trip locations whose locations can be determined or chosen by students. The Dean of FMIPA also hopes that in the future each UPSKILL activity will be able to produce an annual activity evaluation report. based on the evaluation results it was also determined that the minimum number of students so that this activity could be carried out was 10 people, with 3 programs namely: Sustainability and Ecotourism- Balinese traditional and complementary medicine – Ethnobiology so that with this it is hoped that the minimum number of students will be achieved.
To follow up on the results of today's meeting, UPSKILL will plan an internal meeting to discuss topics and important points related to the combination of the 3 programs mentioned above.
