Udayana University and PANDI extend the MOU

`

Tuesday, April 4 2023, at the Udayana University Library Hall, Bukit Jimbaran Campus, Udayana University and the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Manager (PANDI) again signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which had previously been implemented. The MOU re-signing event between UNUD and Pandi Indonesia was also accompanied by the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FMIPA Unud which was carried out directly by the Dean of FMIPA - Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc, Ph.D and Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University - Prof. Dr. Made Sri Satyawati, S.S., M.Hum with the Chairman of the PANDI Management Board - Prof. Yudho Giri Sucahyo .

The Chancellor of Udayana University, who on this occasion was represented by the Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Information, Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes conveyed an apology for the absence of the Chancellor of Udayana University because there were activities that could not be represented. Prof. Adiatmika welcomed the PANDI team and said that Udayana University very much welcomed the extension of this collaboration. By carrying out this signing, it is hoped that PANDI and UNUD can strengthen the cooperative relationship of the two parties, so that what is the program of each faculty can be carried out properly. "Of course, with this collaboration, we hope for support from PANDI to Udayana University, so that the programs run by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities can be carried out properly under the coordination of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two parties, namely PANDI and Unud," he said.

This collaboration extension is actually a continuation of the synergy process that has been implemented for a long time and we hope that this synergy will get stronger. As is well known, Unud is currently heading towards digitization, therefore the Chancellor of Udayana University hopes that all units will reduce manual matters as much as possible in terms of communication, registration, and others, so that services at Unud can be carried out more quickly, of course. with the consequence that the working team must be ready 24 hours to keep the system running and provide good service to students, the academic community, and also to the community.

Chairman of the PANDI Management Board Prof. Yudho Giri Sucahyo in his speech said that the collaboration carried out by PANDI with Udayana University was a continuation of the collaboration between PANDI and UNUD. PANDI, as is known, is the one who manages the dot id (.id) domain who has a dream that one day Indonesia can have an IDN domain. IDN or Internationalized Domain Names are domain names that do not use Latin script, but use local scripts, in this case one of which is the Balinese script. Even then, PANDI moves in parallel, which also registers other scripts. Travel since 2019 brought us together with UNUD which is a center for studying Balinese script.

Furthermore, Yudho Giri Sucahyo stated that this collaboration will be related to development research for the level II domain of the Balinese script. This is a collaboration between the community and academia where the government will also cooperate. Even this collaboration is multidisciplinary because it involves two faculties at Unud, namely the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. After the implementation of this collaboration, it is hoped that Unud will be able to start being the organizer for the level II domain of the Balinese script. It is hoped that in the future exposure to the use of the Balinese script will increase nationally and internationally, so that the world's internet operators will see this growth and one day be able to agree that the dot behind it is already Balinese without an id, where the id is replaced with a Balinese script known as IDN.

Yudho Giri Sucahyo also hopes that the continuation of this collaboration will be a good start related to the collaboration between PANDI and Udayana University which is an example of two multidisciplinary research collaborations that were also found by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology which are also included in the Indicators Main Performance (IKU) both between multidiscipline and cooperation with external parties in this case is PANDI.
