Guest Lecture Master of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University

`

Saturday, October 2, 2021, the Biology Masters Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University held a guest lecture which was attended by students and lecturers of S1, S2, S3 Biology as well as students and lecturers of other Study Programs within Unud.

This activity is a form of implementation of the cooperation between FMIPA Unud and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). The theme raised was Tree Breeding Strategy and Tissue Culture Development by inviting expert researchers from the Yogyakarta Center for Biotechnology Research and Development and Forest Plant Breeding. Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Leksono, M.P and Dr. Ir. Asri Insiana Putri, M.P. This topic is expected to increase students' insight/competence in areas of specialization such as Natural Resource Conservation, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Genetics of Plant Adaptation, Bioenergy Technology and Tissue Culture) which are listed in the curriculum of S1, S2 and S3 Biology Study Programs, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unud.

From the presentation of the material presented by the two resource persons, it can be concluded that the tissue culture method can maintain plant superiority and forest plant breeding strategies should be tested to obtain the value of actual genetic gain (realized genetic gain) so that it is close to the actual situation on an operational scale.
