FMIPA CIVITAS PERSPECTIVE ON SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE WRITING AND JOURNAL MANAGEMENT

Monday (17/04) the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University held a workshop on scientific article writing and journal management which presented Prof. Dr. Komang Gede Wiryawan from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). By the chairman of the Committee Dr. Ngurah Agus Sanjaya ER. S.Kom, M.Kom said that the purpose of this workshop was to improve journal management within FMIPA and also so that lecturers could guide FMIPA students to produce articles with minimal errors and that could be adjusted to the criteria needed in a journal.

Agus Sanjaya, expressed his hope for this workshop that the publication of journals for lecturers/students within FMIPA at the international level would later help increase accreditation in study programs and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences itself. For FMIPA itself every year a minimum of 2 journals must be published and while articles are published 1-15 articles each year. And for students journal publication itself is one of the requirements for graduation. For those who took part in this workshop it was only shown to the lecturers but in the future it is hoped that the lecturers who take part in the workshop can provide the knowledge they get to students about tips or methods for writing journals and articles.

Agus Sanjaya's hope also received support which was agreed upon by the Head of UP2M FMIPA Udayana University, Prof. I Komang Dharmawan, S.Si, M.Sc., Ph.D. Where did Komang Dharmawan convey why publication of scientific journals and articles within FMIPA is important? Apart from the interests of the students themselves, it is also for the interests of the lecturers. So that in the future the journal accreditation must be improved, for example from the previous one from lower Sinta to better Sinta. Plus, students expect to be able to produce good journals and be able to publish the journals themselves.

Dean of FMIPA Dra. When contacted separately, Ni Luh Watiniasih, S.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D expressed her hopes for the FMIPA academic community. This workshop event is a programmed event that invites speakers who are already competent in the field of writing, namely Prof. Dr. Komang Gede Wiryawan is a lecturer in the animal husbandry faculty at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). We asked him to provide guidance on journals in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences so that journals in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences have 2 or more journals in each study program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University to get a journal ranking from the previously lower ranking on Sinta can rise to rank 1 or 2 on Sinta. While the ranking of journals for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Udayana University for Sinta is ranked 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th for Sinta. It is hoped that by holding this workshop, the ranking of journals can be increased at least in Sinta 2. As for the writing of the articles themselves, they are shown to the lecturers so that they can guide all students who are in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences environment well so that there are no more mistakes in writing and can be adjusted according to the criteria -criteria needed by the journal so that it can be directed. Due to limited space and time, the dean hopes that the lecturers who are assigned by the study program coordinators can convey it well to students in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
