LPPM Udayana University Synergizes with PT. Pertamina International Refinery to Care for Emission Releases Through Biodiversity Mangrove Action Plan

On Tuesday, April 30 2024, in the Meeting Room of the Institute for Research and Community Service at Udayana University (LPPM Unud), LPPM Building Fl. 4, Jimbaran Campus, a collaboration initiation meeting was held between LPPM Unud and PT. Pertamina International Refinery (KPI). The meeting was attended by the Leadership of LPPM Unud, the Dean of FMIPA Unud, Lecturers in the Biology Study Program, FMIPA Unud and representatives from PT. This KPI aims to formulate joint efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the Biodiversity Mangrove Action Plan.


This collaboration also involves several parties, namely UPTD TAHURA Ngurah Rai, the Watershed Management Center, and Friends of Indonesian Mangroves. It was decided at the meeting to prepare an MoU on Synergy in the Tridharma and Human Resource Development Sectors, as well as PKS, and an Academic Study on Carbon Claims based on Biodiversity in Mangroves. These steps will include potential, action plan, mangrove ecosystem, impact on the environment, and sustainability.


The mangrove planting process will be carried out in strategic locations such as Telaga Waja Beach (Nusa Dua), Mangrove Arboretum Park, and Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar City, which is also the location for G-20 mangrove planting.


During the meeting, PT. KPI also shared examples of collaboration documents that had been agreed with the University of Riau and Sriwijaya University, regarding the Biodiversity Action Plan, as a guide for this collaboration. In-depth discussions regarding various points in the MoU and PKS were also carried out, including the implementation of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) policies as an integral part of this collaboration. This collaboration marks a joint commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability, while creating real solutions to overcome the problem of emissions.
