Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Receives a Visit from the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark Management

Denpasar, Friday, August 15, 2025 - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University received a visit from the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark Management to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration between the two parties. The meeting, held in the Dean's Room, Postgraduate Building, FMIPA Sudirman, was a warm and productive one. The meeting discussed various areas of collaboration to support scientific development, environmental conservation, and community empowerment.

One of the main topics discussed was collaboration in plant identification in Bali. Through the expertise of FMIPA academics, it is hoped that mapping and scientific studies of the potential biodiversity closely related to the Batur Geopark ecosystem can be conducted.

Furthermore, the two parties discussed the possibility of holding a joint international seminar, which could serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience at the global level. This aligns with the spirit of the UNESCO Global Geopark, which emphasizes the importance of cross-border collaboration in efforts to maintain the sustainability of natural and cultural resources.

Furthermore, plans for collaborative research and community service were also a focus of discussion. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University and the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark agreed that synergy in research and community service programs can have a tangible impact, both in the development of science and in improving the welfare of communities surrounding the geopark.

This visit marked the beginning of various collaboration opportunities that will continue to be developed. The synergy between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University and the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark Management is expected to foster various innovations that benefit the academic world, society, and environmental conservation.
