Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Improves Junior High School Teacher Competence in Developing Artificial Intelligence-Based OSN Materials

Karangasem, June 8, 2026 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the improvement of educational quality through a Community Service (PkM) activity held in the second week of June 2026. The activity, themed "Improving Teacher Competence in Designing Artificial Intelligence-Based Junior High School National Science Olympiad (OSN) Materials," took place at SMP Negeri 3 Selat, Karangasem Regency.

This training was attended by junior high school mathematics and science teachers from Selat District, including SMP Negeri 1 Selat, SMP Negeri 2 Selat, and SMP Negeri 3 Selat. The activity was designed to equip teachers with the skills to utilize artificial intelligence technology in developing learning materials and relevant questions in preparation for the National Science Olympiad.

During the event, participants gained an understanding of the use of various AI-based tools to assist in the process of compiling teaching materials, developing questions, and searching for more effective and innovative learning references. This technology is expected to support teachers in improving the quality of coaching high-achieving students, particularly in preparing for academic competitions such as the National Science Olympiad (OSN).

The participants' enthusiasm was evident throughout the event. The teachers stated they gained new insights into the use of artificial intelligence in education and experienced the direct benefits of the technology in supporting their daily learning tasks.

This activity also received appreciation and support from various parties, including the Regional Coordinator of the Selat District Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) and the Principal of Selat 3 Public Middle School. They hoped that similar programs could continue to be implemented on an ongoing basis to expand teachers' access to developments in educational technology and improve the quality of learning in Karangasem Regency.

Through this community service activity, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University not only strengthened synergies with the education sector but also contributed to the transformation of technology-based learning. By increasing teacher competence in utilizing artificial intelligence, it is hoped that more outstanding students will emerge who are able to compete and bring honor to the region in the National Science Olympiad and other academic competitions.
