Udayana Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Pharmacy Students Receive PKM-RE Funding: Turmeric Nanoemulsion Innovation as an Anti-Inflammatory Agent
Congratulations to the Pharmacy Student Team, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University!
Bukit Jimbaran, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 - An extraordinary work has been realized! This team has successfully secured funding from the Student Creativity Program—Exact Research (PKM-RE) 2025 to develop a world-class innovation: a Curcumin-Based Nanoemulsion from Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) as a natural, safe, and effective anti-inflammatory agent.
The main problems of curcumin—low solubility and limited bioavailability—were successfully overcome through ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) technology and nanosystem microencapsulation. The result? A stable nanoemulsion, easily absorbed by the body, and safe for long-term therapy without the risk of organ damage.
From the Udayana University Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences laboratory, this innovation proves that Indonesian students' work is scientifically competitive and globally competitive, particularly in the fields of nanotechnology and nature-based pharmaceuticals.
From local turmeric, a cutting-edge science-based health solution was born—amazing!
