Surabaya, Thursday, August 7, 2025 - The Alliance of Indonesian Medical Physics Education Institutions (AIPFMI) meeting was held at the Platinum Hotel, Surabaya. The meeting was attended by the Deans of the Faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) from various AIPFMI member universities throughout Indonesia. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Udayana University was represented by the Vice Dean I for Academic and Planning, Dr. Ir. Ngurah Agus Sanjaya ER, S.Kom., M.Kom., and the Physics lecturer in the field of Medical Physics, Dewa Ngurah Yudhi Prasada, M.Si.. The meeting was also attended by the AIPFMI board of directors, representatives of the Indonesian Medical Physicists Alliance (AFISMI), and representatives from the FMIPA of each AIPFMI member university.

The meeting's agenda discussed various strategic issues related to the development of education and research in medical physics, including strengthening networks between Physics study programs that oversee medical physics, improving the curriculum in medical physics, meeting the human resource needs of Medical Physicists in Indonesia, and opening opportunities for cross-institutional research and community service collaborations. This event also coincided with the inauguration of a new young member of AIPFMI, namely the State Islamic University (UIN) Walisongo, which is expected to strengthen the collaborative network of education and research in the field of medical physics.

This event was held in conjunction with the 8th Annual Scientific Meeting of Medical Physics and Biophysics (PIT-FMB) in 2025. The forum agreed on the importance of synergy between AIPFMI and AFISMI to foster a climate for scientific development in the field of medical physics through close collaboration between academics and clinicians. One concrete step planned is the provision of AIPFMI-AFISMI collaborative research grants for clinicians conducting research with AIPFMI member lecturers. This grant program is expected to encourage technological innovation, accelerate knowledge transfer, and ensure the direct implementation of research findings to improve the quality of healthcare services in Indonesia.
