The Chemistry Study Program at Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Develops Salak Wine Innovation in Sibetan Village Through the Village Development Grant Program
Karangasem, Sunday, October 19, 2025 — The Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, conducted a community service activity through the Village Development Grant Program, targeting the Dukuh Lestari Farmers Group in Sibetan Village, Bebandem District, Karangasem Regency.
The theme of this activity was "Developing the Quality of Salak Wine Products with Clove and Cinnamon Spice Additives and Providing Work Discipline Counseling in Accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to Increase the Productivity of the Dukuh Lestari Farmers Group, Sibetan Village, Bebandem District, Karangasem Regency."
This community service activity was chaired by Dr. Dra. Ida Ayu Raka Astiti Asih, M.Si., a senior lecturer in the Chemistry Study Program, FMIPA, Udayana University, and involved approximately 70 participants, consisting of farmer group members, lecturers, and three students who accompanied them as part of the implementation team.
The series of activities includes training on improving the quality of snake fruit wine using natural additives such as cloves and cinnamon, as well as training on implementing work discipline according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which will be held in early November. The goal of this activity is to improve product quality, work efficiency, and the selling value of processed snake fruit, a specialty of Sibetan Village.
In her remarks, the Coordinator of the Chemistry Study Program at Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. Ida Ayu Gede Widihati, S.Si., M.Si., stated that this activity not only provides technical assistance but also serves as a downstream research implementation through community service. This demonstrates the synergy between academics and the community in advancing local potential.
