Bukit Jimbaran, Monday, November 3, 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University welcomed Prof. Sapna Ratan Shah, Ph.D., a leading professor and researcher from the School of Computational and Integrative Sciences (SC&IS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. During this academic visit, Prof. Sapna delivered a guest lecture entitled "Integrating Mathematical Modeling with AI, ML, and DL: Frameworks and Applications."

The guest lecture was officially welcomed by the Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied by the UPIKS FMIPA, the Mathematics Study Program Coordinator, lecturers from the Mathematics Study Program, and enthusiastic students. In her remarks, the Dean of FMIPA expressed her appreciation for Prof. Sapna's presence, which she hopes will strengthen international collaboration networks and enrich students' academic knowledge in the fields of applied mathematics and artificial intelligence.

In her presentation, Prof. Sapna explained how mathematical modeling can be integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL) to solve complex problems in biomechanics and other applied sciences. This combination of deterministic models and intelligent computing enables real-time simulations, patient-based predictions, and increased diagnostic precision in various medical applications, such as cardiovascular modeling, prosthetic design, and musculoskeletal system analysis. The lecture also highlighted how a multidisciplinary approach between mathematics, biology, and artificial intelligence technology can produce innovative solutions for the development of more personalized and efficient healthcare.

Prof. Sapna Ratan Shah is an internationally renowned scientist with over 22 years of academic and research experience, and has authored over 200 scientific publications and 10 books in the fields of Biomechanics, Applied Mathematics, Biomathematics, and Bionanotechnology. He has also led numerous prestigious research projects funded by the UGC, DST, ICMR, and JNU-UPOE, and received numerous prestigious awards, including the Global Lifetime Achievement Award (JNU, 2024) and the International Research Excellence Award in Applied Mathematics (2022).

This activity is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University's efforts to strengthen international research networks and academic exchanges, and supports the faculty's vision to become a center of excellence in science and technology based on global collaboration.
