FMIPA UNUD Supports the Mapping of Innovative Products through a Visit to the Udayana University Business Incubator
BUKIT JIMBARAN – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Udayana University received a visit from the Udayana University Business Incubator (INBIS) on Monday, October 19, 2026. This visit was part of a broader coordination and outreach initiative, during which INBIS introduced its work programs to all faculties across Udayana University between October 19 and 23, 2026.
The initiative aimed to showcase the role and work programs of INBIS in supporting the development of research outcomes and innovative products created by the academic community. It also sought to identify potential innovations that could be further developed through business incubation, downstreaming, and commercialization.
During the visit, INBIS presented various support services available to campus innovators, including tenant selection, business mentoring, facilitation of access to funding, assistance with business legality, intellectual property rights (IPR) protection, as well as the development of partnerships and market access.
Furthermore, the session introduced a mechanism for mapping innovative products—covering product identity, technology readiness levels, IPR status, market potential, and specific support needs. This data will serve as the foundation for building a Udayana University innovation database and identifying promising products ready for the pre-incubation stage.
The visit also served as an opportunity to promote the "Udayana Smart Island & Culture Hackathon 2026"—a program encouraging students, alumni, faculty members, and the general public to transform ideas into innovative products that benefit Bali. The hackathon focuses on five innovation areas: Smart Tourism, Wellness Tourism and Biomedicine, Cultural Preservation, Agro-Techno, and Research Commercialization.
Through this engagement, it is hoped that FMIPA Udayana University will strengthen the synergy between research activities and the development of innovative products that hold the potential to be utilized by the public and the business sector. This effort serves as a crucial step toward ensuring that the research outcomes of the academic community go beyond mere scientific publications, ultimately delivering tangible economic and social impacts for both Bali and Indonesia.
