Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, Holds Mini Symposium and Laboratory Visit with Universiti Malaysia Sabah

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University held a Mini Symposium and Collaborative Discussion with the Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on Monday, January 26, 2026, in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of the FMIPA Building, Udayana University Jimbaran Campus.

This activity was part of an effort to strengthen international academic collaboration between FMIPA Udayana University and BRI–UMS, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and basic sciences. The mini symposium featured a series of scientific presentations from representatives of FMIPA Udayana University and a research team from BRI–UMS. This was followed by a panel discussion and a question-and-answer session to discuss potential research collaborations, academic exchanges, and human resource development.

The event was officially opened by the organizing committee and continued with remarks from the Dean of FMIPA Udayana University and representatives from the Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The interactive discussion reflected the enthusiasm of both institutions in exploring opportunities for sustainable, mutually beneficial collaboration.

As a follow-up to the mini-symposium, a laboratory visit and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) were held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The second day's activities included a FGD between the Udayana University Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and BRI-UMS teams, a visit to the Udayana University Faculty of Medicine Laboratory in Denpasar, and a visit to the Udayana University Integrated Laboratory in Jimbaran.

Through these activities, the Udayana University Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences hopes to strengthen international networks, improve the quality of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, and open opportunities for research and academic collaboration that will have a tangible impact on the development of science and innovation at the regional and global levels.
