Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Visit to BBMKG Region III: Discussion of Research Collaboration, Teaching Practitioners, and Student Internships

Kuta, Thursday, November 6, 2025 - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University conducted a visit to the Center for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region III on Thursday, November 6, 2025. This activity was a strategic step to strengthen synergy between the academic world and government institutions in the development of science, research, and human resource competency improvement.

The FMIPA team at Udayana University was represented by the Information Management and Cooperation Unit (UPIKS), the Physics Study Program Coordinator, and lecturers from the Physics Study Program. The group was received directly by representatives of BBMKG Region III, Mr. Tirtha and Mr. Tanto. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere filled with a spirit of collaboration.

During the discussion, the two parties discussed various forms of collaboration that could be developed, including joint research in meteorology, climatology, and atmospheric physics, the involvement of BBMKG practitioners as lecturers within the FMIPA through the teaching practitioner program, and opportunities for BBMKG employees to pursue further studies at Udayana University. Furthermore, opportunities for FMIPA students, particularly those from the Physics Study Program, to undertake internships at BBMKG were also discussed, gaining practical experience and a firsthand understanding of the application of physics in weather, climate, and geophysical data analysis.

Through this meeting, FMIPA Udayana University and BBMKG Region III agreed to follow up on the discussion by drafting a cooperation agreement in the near future. This collaboration is expected to benefit both parties, both in strengthening academic capacity and improving the quality of competitive human resources in the fields of science and earth science.
