Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Receives a Collaborative Visit and Public Lecture from the National Standardization Agency
Bukit Jimbaran, December 4, 2025 - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University hosted a Collaborative Visit and Guest Lecture from the National Standardization Agency (BSN) on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of FMIPA Unud, Jimbaran Campus. The event was attended by two speakers from BSN, Arini Widyastuti, S.T.P., M.Sc. and Maya Kusuma W., S.I.P., and was welcomed by the Dean of FMIPA and the Vice Deans, the UPIKS Coordinator, the UP3M Coordinator, lecturers, and students.
The event began with an opening remarks by the Dean of FMIPA, followed by a public lecture by BSN on the topic of Standardization and Conformity Assessment, and the use of e-learning for standardization to support academic and professional competencies. The material presented included an introduction to the national standardization system, the benefits of standards in increasing competitiveness, their relevance to global trade, and the urgency of implementing standards in various sectors such as food, health, the environment, technology, energy, and Industry 4.0. In the presentation, the speaker explained that the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is a standard established by the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and is applicable in Indonesia, covering goods, services, systems, processes, and personnel. Students were also introduced to certification mechanisms, the concept of conformity assessment, testing laboratories, inspections, and the importance of accreditation (SNI ISO/IEC 17025) in ensuring the quality and consistency of laboratory testing.
In addition to the general lecture, the event continued with a discussion and discussion of collaboration opportunities between BSN and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, particularly in standardization curriculum development, independent internship opportunities, laboratory audit programs, standardization RPS development, and standardization competitions for students.
This visit opened up opportunities for collaboration in improving human resource capacity and downstreaming knowledge through learning activities and implementing standards in the academic environment. The active participation of lecturers and students in the question-and-answer session demonstrated high enthusiasm for the importance of implementing standardization and quality management systems in industry and research. This activity is expected to foster continued synergy between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University and BSN, particularly in building an academic ecosystem aligned with industry needs and national policies related to standardization and conformity assessment.
