Udayana University and the University of Sydney Hold "Improving Community Mental Health" Activities in Abang District
Abang, Friday, January 24, 2025 – Udayana University, in collaboration with the University of Sydney, held an activity entitled “Improving Community Mental Health” in Abang District, Karangasem. This activity is a real manifestation of the university's contribution in supporting community welfare, especially through improving mental health.
This event was attended by the Head of Abang District, the Head of Abang Village, and representatives from Puskesmas 1 Abang. In his remarks, Udayana University through the Head of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Excellence Center who is also a lecturer at FMIPA Cokorda Rai Adi Pramartha, Ph.D emphasized his commitment to continue collaborating with various parties in overcoming the mental health challenges faced by the Balinese people.
"Mental health is the main foundation for building a quality and meaningful life. This activity is the first step for us to develop appropriate digital technology according to the needs of the community, especially in the domain of mental health," said the representative of Udayana University in his remarks.
Collaboration with the University of Sydney adds an innovative dimension through an information technology-based approach, which is expected to provide concrete solutions in supporting community mental health. Active participation of health workers, local communities, and researchers is one of the keys to the success of this activity.
Udayana University also expressed its appreciation to all parties, especially the Abang 1 Health Center, the Abang Village government, Abang sub-district, and the Suryani Institute for Mental Health who have supported the implementation of this event. This activity is expected to be the beginning of various other positive initiatives that have a real impact on the community.
The event was closed with remarks and an official opening by the Abang Sub-district Head, who emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration to build a healthy community, both physically and mentally.
