Udayana Physics Students Hold Socialization at SMAN 2 Gianyar
In an effort to introduce the prospects of physics and increase interest in science among the younger generation, a socialization team from the Physics Study Program at Udayana University conducted an educational visit to SMAN 2 Gianyar on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
This engaging activity was led by I Made Widnyana, Head of the Socialization Team. The students were warmly welcomed by the school administration and the 12th grade students, who enthusiastically explored information about the world of college, particularly in the fields of instrumentation, energy, and medical physics.
The topic of this socialization was to dispel the stigma that physics is a complex and difficult science with no future prospects. Through presentations and profile videos, the socialization team explained how the application of physics is the main foundation of future technology, starting with the development of renewable energy.
The outreach team consisted of nine students from across the year who divided their roles in the presentations and discussion sessions:
1. I Made Widnyana (Chairperson)
2. Ni Kadek Bintang Meilan Sari
3. Ni Kadek Desika Maharani
4. Ni Putu Mirah Purnama Nandini
5. Indra Riastadewi Rahayu
6. Maria Meisiana Cathrine
7. Putu Happy Manik Pradnyani
8. Kadek Melani Aditya
9. Desak Nyoman Indira Chandra Bawani
10. Komang Weda Nanda Ousadhi Prasta
11. Rama Surya Saputra
In addition to the academic presentations, the students were also given an overview of campus life, scholarship opportunities, and various student organization activities that can hone their soft skills. The Q&A session was the most dynamic part, where students asked questions about preparing for college and careers for physics graduates in the Industry 4.0 era.
"We hope that through this activity, the students at SMAN 2 Gianyar will gain a broader understanding that physics is not just formulas on paper, but rather a highly relevant science with promising career opportunities," said I Made Widnyana on the sidelines of the event.
The event concluded with a group photo session, symbolizing the synergy between academics and secondary education institutions in advancing scientific literacy in Bali.
