The Pharmacy Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, Receives a Visit from JSPS, Encouraging International Research Collaboration

The Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, welcomed a delegation from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Senate Meeting Room, 1st Floor of the Dean's Building. This event was held within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University.


The JSPS delegation included Prof. Dr. Otani Yoshio (Director of JSPS) and Ms. Yabuta Kazumi (Deputy Director, JSPS Bangkok Office). The event also featured Prof. Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti, M.Agr.Chem., as a guest lecturer.


The event opened with remarks from the host, Dr. apt. Made Krisna Adi Jaya, M.Farm., a representative of the Pharmacy Study Program, FMIPA UNUD. He emphasized the importance of strengthening international academic networks, particularly in the fields of research and bioprospecting of biological resources.


The theme of the public lecture, "Unshackled Floracrats in Indonesia for Bioprospecting of Biological Resources," was deemed highly relevant to the current challenges of research development in Indonesia.


In their presentation, the JSPS delegation introduced various international funding and fellowship schemes accessible to lecturers, researchers, and doctoral students, including the Summer Program, Short-term Fellowships (Pre- and Postdoctoral), Standard Fellowships, Long-term Fellowships, and the BRIDGE Fellowship Program. These programs are designed to encourage researcher mobility, cross-border research collaboration, and enhance human resource capacity in the fields of science and technology.


The event was attended by study program coordinators within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Udayana University, undergraduate students of Pharmacy at Udayana University, and prospective students of the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Gadjah Mada University. The participants' enthusiasm was evident in the discussion session, which covered joint research opportunities, fellowship application mechanisms, and strategies for establishing research collaborations with institutions in Japan.


Through this activity, the Pharmacy Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University hopes to open up wider opportunities for collaboration between universities, national research institutions, and international partners, particularly in the development of superior, ethical, and impactful bioprospecting research for society.
