Success: 26 Physics Students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Pass the Impactful Campus Program for Village Development and Disaster Mitigation

More encouraging news has come from the Physics Study Program. Twenty-six students successfully passed the selection process and officially participated in the Merdeka Kampus Berdampak program for the Village Development and Disaster Mitigation scheme this term. This success demonstrates the Physics students' commitment to directly implementing their knowledge within the community.

Specifically, 15 students are participating in the Village Development scheme. This group will focus on serving in Jimbaran Traditional Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. They are implementing a community service project titled "Digital Village Program Innovation Phase II for Jimbaran Traditional Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali." This program is expected to accelerate effective digital transformation for governance and community economic empowerment in Jimbaran Traditional Village.

Meanwhile, 11 other students successfully passed the Disaster Mitigation scheme. These students will be deployed directly to Sumber Arum Village, Songgon District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java Province. This group carries out a crucial mission through research and community service titled "Validation of Volcanic Activity of Mount Raung in Sumber Arum Village, Songgon District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java Province." This study is highly relevant to physics, particularly geophysics, in efforts to map and mitigate natural disaster risks in eruption-prone areas.

Responding to this extraordinary achievement, the Physics Study Program Coordinator, Dr. I Gde Antha Kasmawan, S.Si., M.Si., expressed his pride and deep appreciation for all the students who passed.

"The graduation of our 26 students from the Village Development and Disaster Mitigation Impact Campus program is an achievement to be grateful for and proud of. This proves that Physics students not only excel academically in the classroom, but also are sensitive and capable of providing solutions to real-world problems in society," said Dr. I Gde Antha Kasmawan.

He further advised the students to uphold the good name of their alma mater and maximize this program as a comprehensive learning platform. "Whether it's the innovation of village digitalization in Jimbaran or the disaster mitigation study on the slopes of Mount Raung, both require high levels of dedication. Use this opportunity to hone your soft skills, collaboration, and empathy. We hope the program will have a sustainable positive impact on the local community," he concluded.
