Bukit Jimbaran, September 25, 2025 – The Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, received a working visit to explore collaboration with the Nuclear Energy Training and Testing Institute. The meeting discussed the initial stages of the collaboration, starting with document verification to ensure compliance with requirements before proceeding to the next stage.

The meeting explained that the Operational Cooperation Agreement (KSO) is in place and can be utilized as initial capital for program implementation. The presence of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) is expected to not only strengthen the verification process but also provide guidance regarding the evaluation of deficiencies and recommendations for necessary improvements.

All administration will be managed digitally through the online BALIS version 2.5 platform, which facilitates appointments, communication, and problem resolution through a help desk. Furthermore, the importance of developing a robust management system to support training activities was discussed. As a strategic step, three previously independent institutions will be merged into a single entity: the Training Institute, the Conformity Testing Institute (LUK), and the Conformity Testing Institute (LPUK), to ensure more efficient coordination and implementation of activities.

Regarding the competency of field examiners, participants are required to possess specific qualifications obtained through a one-week intensive training at the University of Indonesia. Meanwhile, to operate as a LUK, an institution must have a survey meter and a phantom as supporting test equipment. If equipment procurement is constrained by budget constraints, initial activities can still be carried out through a Joint Operation (KSO) scheme.

Although Udayana University will be the training provider, the exam assessment process remains under the authority of BAPETEN. One of the requirements for establishing a Training Institute is the availability of lecturers with Radiation Protection Officer (PPR) certifications. Furthermore, human resource development is a key focus to support the sustainability of the program and ensure the quality of future nuclear energy activities.
