CYANIDE XXIX Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University, Participants' Enthusiasm Proves That the Spirit of Learning in Chemistry Continues to Grow

Denpasar, Saturday, September 27, 2025 - The Chemistry Student Association of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Udayana University held the 29th "Chemistry National Olympiad Event (CYANIDE)" in 2025 at the Postgraduate Building Hall of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar. The event, themed "Catalyst of Change: Building a Sustainable World Through Chemistry," was opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, representing the Rector of Udayana University. The event included the final round of the LKTI (Student Competency Writing) competition, high school theory competition, and the closing ceremony of CYANIDE XXIX.

In his report, the Head of the Indigo Committee, Zaid Saputro, stated that over the course of several days, CYANIDE had featured various competitions, including the Kompas (student competency), essay competition, chemistry theory competition, LKTI competition, and poster competition, with top participants from various schools and universities nationwide. The high level of participant enthusiasm and support from various parties demonstrates that the spirit of learning, innovation, and competence in chemistry continues to thrive among the younger generation.

"Our great hope is that CYANIDE Udayana will not only be a competition but also a platform for inspiration and collaboration, fostering the nation's next generation who are intelligent, creative, and care about the environment and society," he said.

In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Ni Luh Watiniasih, stated that the Faculty has held this event 29 times, and that it is crucial for developing talent in the field of chemistry. This event has also become an annual event for the Study Program and is expected to be further enhanced in the future. This event is also expected to promote the study program and improve the quality of skills in collaboration and student organization. The Dean also expressed her hope that this event will run smoothly and successfully.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector Prof. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya stated that CYANIDE serves as an intellectual platform to foster enthusiasm and awareness among the younger generation in providing solutions to environmental and sustainability issues through chemistry. All competition categories are expected to serve as a platform for honing critical, innovative, and applied thinking skills, particularly in utilizing chemistry for a healthier earth.

"Our great hope is that through this event, the finalists will not only compete for achievements, but also foster a spirit of learning and concern for the sustainability of the earth," said the Vice Rector.

He hopes that the experience of the 29th CYANIDE will be the first step to continue developing, contributing, and becoming a catalyst for change in creating a sustainable world.

The opening ceremony also included the handover of rotating trophies by SMA Negeri 1 Bangli, followed by competitions.
