CIFOR Visit to FMIPA: Initiation of Research Collaboration in the Forest and Environment Sector

Bukit Jimbaran Campus, Friday, March 22 2024, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences received a visit from Mr. Robert Frederick Finlayson, an expert in the field of forest and environmental research, also known as a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). an international research institute that focuses on forest and environmental research. based in Bogor, Indonesia, and is one of the world's leading research institutions in this field. He also plays a role in developing policies and best practices in forest and environmental management. His visit took place at the 4th Floor of the FMIPA Dean's Building (Dean's Room). He was welcomed directly by the Dean of FMIPA, namely Prof. Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih along with several leaders who were present included Dra. Luh Putu Eswaryanti Kusuma Yuni from UP2M UNUD, and Mr Dr. Ir. Ngurah Agus Sanjaya ER as Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Planning.


The purpose of Mr. Finlayson's visit is to initiate a research collaboration topic entitled "Sustainable Community-based Reforestation and Enterprises (SCORE): Achieving Climate and Livelihood Goals through Locally Appropriate Forest Landscape Reforestation". This meeting took place around 09:30 WIB until 10:45 WIB. This is an important step in Udayana University's efforts, especially FMIPA, to play a role in improving the quality of research and community service, by strengthening international cooperation in the field of forest and environmental research. In this case, FMIPA Udayana University hopes to contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development and community prosperity through research that focuses on reforestation in accordance with local needs and conditions in the future.


This meeting also demonstrated FMIPA UNUD's commitment to developing academic and research collaborations with leading institutions in the forest and environment sector, such as CIFOR. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that innovative research programs can be formed and have a positive impact on local communities and the surrounding environment. This meeting is a concrete example of implementing the vision and mission in producing high quality research that can contribute to sustainable development and community welfare.
