AGRI-MOTION Team of FMIPA Udayana University Secures Funding under the 2026 PPK Ormawa Program
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Udayana University, proudly celebrates another remarkable achievement as the Student Executive Board (BEM FMIPA) has successfully secured funding under the 2026 Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
The funded project, entitled “AGRI-MOTION: Community Empowerment Program in Nyanglan Village Through the Implementation of Smart Farming Based on Precision Agriculture Towards Efficient and Sustainable Modern Agriculture,” reflects the commitment of FMIPA students to applying science and technology for community development. The program aims to empower local farmers in Nyanglan Village, Klungkung Regency, Bali, through the adoption of innovative agricultural technologies that enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
AGRI-MOTION introduces an integrated smart farming ecosystem based on the principles of precision agriculture. The project incorporates wireless Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to support automated irrigation management, intelligent drainage systems for overwatering prevention, and precision nutrient and pesticide injection. In addition, Machine Learning-based data processing will be utilized as an early warning system to detect potential plant diseases and improve agricultural decision-making.
Through these technological innovations, the program is expected to reduce excessive use of chemical inputs, lower operational costs, improve crop productivity, and ultimately increase farmers’ economic benefits. More importantly, AGRI-MOTION seeks to establish a sustainable agricultural model that can be adapted to various local commodities while preserving the agricultural values and traditions of the community.
PPK Ormawa is a national initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of student organizations by encouraging students to develop and implement community empowerment programs that address real societal challenges. The program provides opportunities for students to enhance both their soft skills and technical competencies while making meaningful contributions to local communities.
According to the official announcement issued by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs through Letter Number 1752/DST/B2/DT.01.01/2026 dated 21 May 2026, a total of 226 project proposals from 105 higher education institutions across Indonesia were selected for funding in 2026. Udayana University was among the institutions whose student organizations successfully secured this competitive grant.
This achievement highlights the dedication, innovation, and collaborative spirit of FMIPA Udayana students in utilizing science and technology to address community needs. Through the implementation of AGRI-MOTION, the team aspires to create a positive and lasting impact on the agricultural sector in Nyanglan Village while contributing to the advancement of sustainable rural development.
