Academic Visit of Research Delegation from Kazakhstan to Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana University
Bukit Jimbaran, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Udayana University hosted an academic visit from a delegation of researchers from Kazakhstan on Monday, October 13, 2025, to explore opportunities for research collaboration in organic chemistry and applied sciences. The delegation consisted of Professor Gulzhakhan Yeligbayeva from the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Karaganda, and a researcher at Satbayev University; Associate Professors, researchers at Satbayev University and the Kazakh-British Technical University; and Dr. Dana Ainakulova, a PhD student from the Kazakh-British Technical University.
The visit was officially welcomed by the UPIKS FMIPA Udayana University, which facilitated initial discussions regarding potential collaboration in chemistry research, lecturer and student exchanges, international guest lectures, and joint scientific publications. The meeting also discussed the possibility of implementing collaborative research involving FMIPA laboratories in the development of innovative chemical materials and compounds.
As a follow-up, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a Kazakh delegation paid a visit to the Chemistry Study Program at Udayana University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The visit was received by the Coordinators of the Undergraduate and Master's Chemistry Study Programs, accompanied by FMIPA chemistry lecturers, and facilitated by the Faculty's Student Affairs and Research Center (UPIKS). During the visit, researchers from both parties discussed plans for implementing research collaborations, visiting professor programs, international guest lectures, and student exchanges.
In addition to the discussions, the delegation also toured the chemistry laboratories to see firsthand the research facilities available at FMIPA. This visit provided a platform to gain a closer look at the research potential and capabilities within FMIPA, while also exploring concrete collaboration opportunities in the field of organic and applied chemistry research.
This activity is expected to be the first step towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a research cooperation agreement (MoA) between Udayana University and universities in Kazakhstan, particularly Satbayev University and the Kazakh-British Technical University. This collaboration is also in line with FMIPA's vision to expand its international academic network and strengthen Udayana University's reputation at the global level.
